Map out a schedule

Once you have selected several activities you would like to pursue in retirement, set aside time when you would like to partake in these. For many people, establishing a schedule of what they want to do each week helps them budget their time and provides the organization they need to feel focused.

Start by picking up a calendar, appointment book or electronic organizer that allows you to record your planned activities. Then begin arranging when you need to take care of necessary tasks (such as grocery shopping, appointments, etc.) as well as when you wish to spend time with leisure activities. You can even schedule quiet time for relaxing and enjoying the tranquility of retirement.
