Trusts

Often the mention of a legal trust or a trust fund conjures up images of millionaires on yachts wearing ascot ties and drinking champagne. However, a trust can be a useful estate planning tool for many people, as it is simply a legal mechanism that allows you to more precisely control how your assets are distributed after you die. A trust can help you reduce estate and gift taxes; more efficiently (and more privately) distribute your assets to your heirs; and possibly even provide greater protection from creditors and lawsuits.
