Adjust your asset allocation mix

When people reach retirement, they often think they must select the most conservative investments for their savings in order to preserve their income. While it is prudent to reduce your investment risk in retirement, this does not mean you should completely abandon all growth-type investments like stocks.

Many investment experts recommend keeping a percentage of your retirement savings in stocks or stock-focused mutual funds after you retire. By doing this, you can draw down the savings in your more conservative investments while giving the more aggressive investments time to grow.
